Mississippi State defeated Princeton by a score of 63-41. The Bulldogs, coached by Richard Williams, were seeded fifth. The Tigers, coached by Pete Carril, were seeded thirteenth. Mississippi State made it all the way to the Final Four, where they lost to Syracuse.
